SUMMARY:La Fin Du Romantisme, Gregory Buchakjian – François Sargologo – Hanibal Srouji
DESCRIPTION:Galerie Janine Rubeiz presentsThe End of RomanticismA group exhibition featuring Gregory Buchakjian, François Sargologo, and Hanibal Srouji\nA decade after their first collaboration, Pellicula, artists Gregory Buchakjian, François Sargologo, and Hanibal Srouji come together once more for The End of Romanticism, a collective exhibition that reflects on the shifting modes of image-making and memory.\nExploring the fading echoes of Romanticism, the exhibition blurs lines between painting, photography, drawing, and text. Sargologo captures photographic scenes of untamed, verdant landscapes that evoke both beauty and entropy. Buchakjian overlays architectural sketches of Roman temples onto modern industrial ruins, while Srouji contrasts vibrant, large-format works with scorched, fragmented landscapes in muted tones.\n\nGregory BuchakjianArtist, art historian, and professor at ALBA (University of Balamand), Gregory Buchakjian’s work draws from archives, archaeology, and storytelling. His acclaimed project Abandoned Dwellings inspired major exhibitions at the Sursock Museum and Villa Empain. His recent works include Record of an Ordinary Life (FotoFocus, 2022) and HN51 at the Roman temple of Hosn Niha.\n\nFrançois SargologoA French-Lebanese artist working across disciplines, François Sargologo explores the fractured memory of his Levantine heritage. His narrative-based work centers on Beirut and blends photography with archival material. He has exhibited in Lebanon and France, including at the Institut du Monde Arabe and Galerie Janine Rubeiz.\n\nHanibal SroujiBased between Beirut and Paris, Hanibal Srouji is known for his emotionally charged abstract paintings. He holds an MFA from Concordia University and has taught at institutions across North America and Lebanon. His work has been exhibited internationally and is part of numerous public and private collections.\n
