Today, Ras el Metn remains deeply committed to preserving the valley’s natural beauty and promoting eco-tourism and sustainability.\nNature & HeritageAlong the way, discover pine forests, ancient cliff-carved tombs, natural grottos, and the historic spring Nabaa Ain El Marj (1472). The route also includes the abandoned monastery Deir Mar Youhana in Shehlen, offering sweeping views from Bhamdoun to Ktaleh.\nHiking Levels\n\n\nLevel 3 (Easy): Mostly flat and downhill (280 m descent), passing old houses, bridges, and Nabeh el Delbi, Beirut’s main water source.\n\n\nLevel 5 (Challenging): A steeper uphill trail leading to Deir Mar Youhana, with panoramic views before reconnecting with the group.\n\n\nPicnic by the RiverBoth groups meet for a relaxing picnic at Ain Sheikh Hassan Halawi, a natural freshwater source.
