LMTA Fall Trek Showcases Lebanon’s Nature, Culture & Heritage

by LBTAdmin

The Lebanon Mountain Trail Association (LMTA) launched its seventh consecutive annual Fall Trek, a 16-day trek along the Lebanon Mountain Trail.

The trek, which kicked off on 11 October, gathers around 100 hikers who are split into two teams; one team will hike from Bcharre to Jezzine, while the other team will go the other way. The two teams will meet in Baskinta on 19 October.

The LMTA organizes this hike in an effort to protect the trail and showcase the beauty of Lebanon’s rural villages in their fall colors. Similar to its Thru-Walk, the association’s Fall Trek is organized under its campaign “Hike It. Protect It.”

This year, the project was backed up by the Lebanese President himself, General Michel Aoun. By endorsing the LMTA’s campaign, he gave formal recognition to the trail, thus inviting all stakeholders to support and promote the trail in their respective mandates.

The hike will be taking place until 27 October. Participants will be accompanied by local guides trained by the LMTA and accommodated in rural villages and towns along the trail, where they will also get to try local delicacies. People can also join sectional hikes.
