Discover the Heritage of Rachaya El Wadi

Nestled at the foot of Jabal El Cheikh (Mount Hermon), Rachaya El Wadi is a town steeped in history and culture—famous for its red-tiled stone houses, ancient souk, and iconic landmarks like the Citadel of Independence and the 18th-century Mar Moussa al Habashi Church, one of the region’s oldest Syriac-Catholic churches.

Hike Overview

  • Starting Point: Emm Chratit tree – make a wish and begin the day exploring the village.

  • Highlights:

    • Public garden

    • Old souk

    • Orthodox monastery

    • Citadel of Independence

Hike Levels

  • Level 3 (Moderate):

    • Suitable for beginners

    • Explore the village and return by bus

  • Level 5 (Challenging):

    • Includes scenic agricultural trails

    • Hike back to meet the rest of the group

Lunch

A homemade village-style meal will be served by a local Women’s Association, featuring traditional, healthy dishes made from fresh, local ingredients. Homemade products will also be available for purchase in support of the community.
