Explore one of Lebanon’s most remarkable natural sites, the Balaa Sinkhole, a dramatic geological formation carved over millions of years. Plunging 250 meters deep, the sinkhole reveals a seasonal waterfall in winter and spring, as well as three natural stone bridges hidden within its depths.
The day begins with time to explore the sinkhole and its surroundings before starting the hike.
Two trail options are available:
Level 6 – Challenging (Balaa to Douma) A short but steep ascent at the start, followed by downhill and flatter sections. The trail offers wide views over Douma and passes along Sikket el Sham, an ancient route once linking Tripoli, Douma, Baalbeck, and Damascus. The hike ends in Douma.
Level 3 – Easy (Feghre to Douma) A gentle downhill walk along a scenic and accessible path, also ending in Douma.
Located in a mountain valley, Douma is known for its traditional red-roofed houses, agricultural richness, and peaceful atmosphere. The town features historical elements such as ancient millstones and old oil presses, reflecting its long heritage.
Both groups will gather in Douma at the end of the hike for a traditional lunch prepared by local producers.
