Baskinta Hike! with Vamos Todos
Baskinta, whose Syriac name means “house of wisdom,” lies between Mount Sannine, Bakish, Marj, and Zaarour. The village is known as the birthplace of Lebanese writer and philosopher Mikhael Naimy.
This spring hike follows Baskinta’s Literary Trail through forests, streams, and blooming landscapes fed by the melting snow of Mount Sannine. Along the route, participants will discover important cultural and historical landmarks. These include Mikhael Naimy’s mausoleum, Abdallah Ghanem Cultural Center, Roman rock inscriptions, Sayf el Dawla Cave, the old house of writer Sleiman Kettaneh, Saidet el Khalleh Church, and the mausoleum of poet George Ghanem.
The Level 5 hike starts in Chakhroub and continues through woodland paths toward Baskinta village. Local villagers prepare a homemade lunch at the end of the hike.
