Join us for another Amazing Trail, to explore the beautiful AFQA Nature Reserve located in the Byblos district and enjoy the freshness of the water grotto and waterfalls at this time of year, we will hike together in one group along a down easy path of just 8 KM. The views are remarkable. We can see Jabal Moussa and Nahr Ibrahim valley with all the villages surrounding the valley as Aqoura, Kartaba, Ghabat, Yanouh, etc.
| HIKE LOCATION : Afqa / Keserwan / Mount Lebanon ============= 1450 meters above sea level 54 km from Beirut. WHEN : Saturday, May 21, 2022 ===== ENCOUNTER PLACE : Saint Abda Church parking facing the New-bridge, =============== Jal El Dib @ 7:30 AM Driving directions to Saint Abda Church: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Saint+Abda+Church+-+Jal+El+Dib Or Martyrs Square at Al-Nahar Bldg., Beirut Downtown @ 7:10 AM FEES: ==== 220,000 LL/person including transport (Open windows), professional guides, 5 minutes of warming up, stretching, and pictures. Children 18 years old and younger will have a discount of 10%. (200,000 LL/person) Optional transportation by your own vehicle 150,000 LL/person Make your group of 4 persons (& more) and get a 15% discount (190,000 LL per person). There are 5.000LL Extra Entrance fees to the Waterfall. (Optional) DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT: ====================== HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous Level 4 (8 km, approx. 2:45Hr) We will start the hike from the hills of Lassa, one of the most spectacular villages of Mount Lebanon overlooking Nahr Ibrahim gorge. Along the way we will visit Nabi Hadwan, a walk to the sanctuary located on the steep cliff is a must to see. We will see as well the old juniper trees and then go down to visit a great and ancient temple located near the waterfall and the impressive Afqa Grotto. There, ritual prostitution was practiced until the time of Constantine in Afqa village. The main feature of Lassa and Afqa is the beautiful rock formations spread throughout the villages. We get to walk on an agricultural road along the mountain cliff “Chir El Jalse” overlooking the spectacular simultaneous sea and mountain, reach in breathtaking views. We will end the hike at Afqa Grotto and waterfall where we will take some magical photos. Protect yourself and others around you by knowing the facts and taking appropriate precautions: Distancing from each other is a must. Cover your nose and mouth with your face masks. To keep it on, while we are on the bus. Clean your hands often by using hand gel or other. WHAT TO TAKE: ============ Healthy snacks that will boost your energy include dried fruits, lunch, water, MEDICAL FACE MASKS, HAND GEL, cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Wear comfortable walking shoes (A professional brand is recommended) and don't forget to get a light jacket.
