5 Free Date Ideas in Lebanon

by Maria Frangieh

With all the wonderful places you could choose to spend quality time with your love in Lebanon, we’re narrowing it down to five locations for a fun — and free — date!

1- Nabu museum, Batroun

Located in North Lebanon and named after the Mesopotamian god of literacy, Nabu will take your date to the next level. It houses a permanent collection of around 2,000 exhibits, including contemporary works of art and antiquities.

As Nabu enjoys an enviable position on the coast, you can admire the spectacular sea view after your museum tour.

Check out this Google maps link for other museums in Lebanon.

3- Open Mic Night

Riwaq hosts open mic nights that are completely free of charge. These events take place at 7:30 pm twice a month (Mondays). Enjoy the show and the relaxing, artistic atmosphere. You may even want to impress your date by singing, doing stand-up comedy or performing in another way.

4- Poetry Night

Nothing speaks romance like poetry. Head to Aaliya’s Books in Gemmayze, Beirut, on Wednesdays at 6 pm to enjoy an evening filled with poetic verse. You can even read your own poem.

Another event hosted at the popular Beirut cafe is “Books on Film,” which presents movie adaptations of popular novels.

5- Hiking

A day in nature is one of the best ways to spend time with a loved one. The iron oak forest in the Akkar District is one Lebanon’s most stunning wonders. The hike is fairly easy, meandering through a beautiful forest of oak trees that are up to 30 meters tall.

Indeed, the forest, which is considered to be the largest in Lebanon, is also home to cedars, junipers, hairy oaks and cypresses. If you’re interested in other hiking spots, here are a few we recommend.
