Accessible Nature with the Lebanon Mountain Trail Association

by LBTAdmin

Lebanon’s rugged landscapes and breathtaking trails have long been a haven for outdoor lovers. But few events have embodied the spirit of adventure, resilience and inclusion quite like this year’s 4 Seasons Mountain Trail. Organized along the Lebanon Mountain Trail (LMT), a 470km route stretching from north to south, the annual event is a powerful statement about who gets to experience the outdoors and how we can open nature up to more people.

A trailblazing step toward inclusion

In a landmark moment, five visually impaired runners from the NGO Blind with Vision completed 8 kilometers of the trail guided by directional bars and a dedicated team. Their participation wasn’t just a personal milestone, it was a national message: With the right tools and support, nature can be accessible to all.

Their achievement marks a turning point in Lebanon’s outdoor and tourism scene. It shows that even our most demanding terrains can become welcoming spaces for everyone regardless of ability.

Why accessible tourism matters

From ancient ruins and coastal towns to snow-capped peaks, Lebanon’s tourism potential is undeniable. Yet, many of these experiences remain out of reach for travelers with disabilities. Accessible tourism goes beyond ramps and wide doors. It’s about:

  • Ensuring equal opportunities for all to explore

  • Boosting economic growth by welcoming more diverse travelers

  • Fulfilling our social responsibility to leave no one behind
