This work of art was developed to frame my own experiences as well as those of an experienced diver. After logging in to hundreds of dives throughout the world, I came to the realization that the patterns, forms, and colors of the waves' undersides had something that captivated my attention.
When surfers plunge into the ocean, cresting with waves that are breaking, I see a beautiful and intense dance-taking place between the surfers and the water.
As the water got quicker and more powerful, I felt more and more connected to it. I felt more like a sculptor sculpting an object in slow motion. The wide-angle lens served as my hammer and the water was my fire, to form and sculpt the image. The pattern of the waves served as my large canvas, allowing me to paint my images.
