We will walk to reach the great Iron Oak forest at Jabal Moussa”Al-Ozor" HIKE LOCATION : Jabal Moussa/Keserwan/In Maten ============ 1400-1600 meters above sea level, 43 km from Beirut. Optional transportation by your own vehicles 11 $/person. There is a 4$ extra entrance fees to Jabal Moussa Reserve. For under 16 years the entrance fee is 2$. DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT: ====================== A walk through the Mountain!!! Jabal Moussa became a natural reserve, it covers an area of 6500 hectares at an altitude ranging between 350 meters and 1750 meters. The main villages are Qehmez, Nahr el Dahab, Yahchouch, Ghbale, Aabre and Chouwan. The Jabal Moussa biosphere reserve presents a rich diversity of flora and fauna. At least 350 flora species are found in the reserve, and it’s a Global Important Bird Area (IBA) as per Bird Life International criteria. It presents a variety of migratory and soaring birds which appear depending on the seasons. Jabal Moussa is renowned for the unspoiled historic Adonis Valley with its ancient agricultural terraces and trails that date back to Roman times. The valley features rivers and streams, mixed forests with oak, pine and olive groves and many important plant species. This trail of just 10 KM. Will start from the village of Qehmez, it’s an easy and beautiful walk. From Baydar El-Shawk you will continue along a trail leading to old well, then to the Cross site. You will also be able to see rare views particular to this altitude terrain, it’s impressive. Then we will go to Qornel el Mzaar where the scenery is really beyond description crossing by the old villages straight to Qehmez village. Don’t let any adventure go by untried. Live your life to the fullest! WHAT TO TAKE: ============ Healthy snacks that will boost your energy include dried fruits, lunch, water, cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Wear comfortable walking shoes (A professional brand is recommended) and don't forget to get a light jacket.
