Beirut welcomes a brand-new celebration of cinema this November. Intersections – The UK Film Festival in Lebanon takes over Metropolis Cinema in Mar Mikhael from 13 to 19 November, bringing together the best of British filmmaking and Lebanon’s vibrant creative scene.

The festival, aptly named “Intersections,” is about more than films. It is where ideas, sounds and technology meet, where dialogue sparks collaboration and where UK and Lebanese talent come together. It is the first edition of a biannual festival dedicated to exchange, innovation and growth in film and the creative industries.
The program features 12 films ranging from contemporary hits to restored classics. Highlights include “Grand Theft Hamlet,” “Hot Milk,” “The Old Oak,” “We Dare to Dream,” “The Salt Path, Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger” and a live cine-concert finale of Hitchcock’s “Easy Virtue.” Each screening offers a chance to explore the past, present and future of UK cinema.

Intersections also includes a professional program with workshops and talks for Lebanese filmmakers, producers and sound designers. Sound experts Johnny Burn, Paul Davies, Larry Sider, Rob Walker and Steve Goodman will lead sessions on innovation and design. Pinny Grylls and Sam Crane will explore the creative intersections between gaming and storytelling. And a panel of industry leaders will discuss how collaboration can shape the future of filmmaking. The festival closes with a live re-score of Easy Virtue by Lebanese musicians Fadi Tabbal and Julia Sabra, blending classic cinema with contemporary sound.

This festival goes beyond the screen. By connecting UK and Lebanese professionals, Intersections encourages co-productions, post-production collaborations and culture-led innovation. It is a celebration of creativity, collaboration and shared passion for film.
