Baloua Baatara is one of Lebanon’s most impressive natural landmarks. It features a dramatic sinkhole formed over ملايين years. The chasm drops 250 meters deep and reveals three natural stone bridges. In winter and spring, a waterfall flows through the cave, creating a striking منظر.
The day starts with a visit to the Baatara sinkhole. Afterward, the hike begins toward Douma, with two trail options available.
Level 6 – Challenging Trail (Baatara to Douma) First, hikers tackle a short but steep ascent. Then, the trail continues with downhill and flat sections. Along the way, it offers wide views over Douma and the surrounding mountains. In addition, part of the route follows Sikket el Sham, an ancient path that once linked Tripoli, Douma, Baalbeck, and Damascus. The hike ends in Douma.
Level 3 – Easy Trail (Feghre to Douma) Alternatively, this route offers a gentle downhill walk. It is scenic and accessible, making it suitable for all levels. Like the challenging trail, it also ends in Douma.
Discover Douma Douma lies in a peaceful mountain valley. It is known for its red-roofed houses and fertile land. Moreover, the area is rich in olive, vine, and apple trees. The town also features historical remains, including old oil presses and millstones.
