Baskinta takes its name from the Syriac term “house of wisdom.” It lies within natural mountain borders, with Mount Sannine to the east and open valleys to the west. It is also the birthplace of Mikhael Neaime.
This spring hike follows Baskinta’s literary trail. It blends nature with local culture. The path crosses green landscapes and flowing streams from melting snow.
Along the way, hikers pass key sites linked to writers and history. These include the mausoleum of Mikhael Neaime and the Abdallah Ghanem Cultural Center. The trail also features Roman rock carvings and Sayf el Dawla Cave. Other stops include the former house of Sleiman Kettaneh, Saidet el Khalleh Church, and the mausoleum of George Ghanem.
The hike starts in Chakhroub. It follows dirt roads and forest paths to Baskinta village. A short break takes place in the village.
