Chouwen Lake lies deep within the Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve, alongside the Ibrahim River. This 6,500-hectare protected area is known for its rich biodiversity, scenic views, and peaceful atmosphere.
Hike Overview:
Level 4 – Moderate | Distance: ~7 km
• Start from the village of Chouwen
• Follow a downhill trail toward the lake
• Stop at a wooden balcony with panoramic views of the Ibrahim River
• Continue to the turquoise lake — ideal for rest, photos, and relaxation
• Wait for the more advanced group, then hike back together
After the Hike:
• Enjoy a traditional, homemade lunch at a local guesthouse
• On the way back, pass by the historic Mameluke Bridge — a beautiful blend of history and nature
