Dhour Choueir is one of Mount Lebanon’s most beautiful villages. It is known for its cool climate, vast pine forests, and rich heritage. The area offers old caves, ancient mills, stone bridges, and fresh springs. It also features a traditional souk with stone-paved alleys and arched houses. In addition, the village celebrates its emigrant roots with a yearly August carnival.
The hike is Level 5 (moderate). It begins at the main square and includes light uphill sections as well as several panoramic paths.
Hike Highlights
Start at Dhour Choueir’s main square.
Then follow a dirt road toward Ghwab and Tallet Ameid.
Visit several old caves along the way.
Next, explore the traditional souk with its narrow alleys and stone arches.
Cross three natural springs on a scenic trail.
Afterwards, climb the long staircase leading to Ain Assis.
Finally, reach the hike’s highlight: the largest Atilb (Strawberry Tree), a symbol of the village.
