The Green Line Walking Tour explores Beirut’s political, historical (from the 19th century onward), architectural, artistic, and urban layers through key physical intervals. The walk follows segments of the former demarcation line along Damascus Street down to Downtown Beirut— a divide that split the city for 15 years—while crossing between its Western and Eastern sides.
To address these themes, the itinerary includes abandoned houses and mansions, artistic and political memorials, graveyards, residential neighborhoods, and public spaces.
The tour includes local coffee (with restroom access) and a food stop.
Sites visited include:
National Museum façade and Nuhad es-Said Pavilion
Grand Famine Square
Damascus Street
Beit Beirut
Monot Street
Khandak el Ghamik Street
Downtown Beirut
Battle of the Hotels (1975–1976), near Zeitouna Bay
Note: Due to the city’s limited accessibility, the tour is not suitable for wheelchair users and may be challenging for children in strollers. Comfortable shoes, water, and curiosity recommended.
