Dear Lebanon Explorers,

As the year draws to a close, it becomes the perfect time to give back and spread hope. For this reason, we invite you to join us on Sunday, December 21, 2025, for a meaningful charity hiking event in Abaydat – Sakiet El-Khayt (Jbeil).

A Cause That Matters

This initiative proudly supports the Monks of the Brothers and Nuns of the Sisters of Jesus Crucified

These devoted religious communities lovingly care for abandoned newborns found at their doors. As a result, every step taken and every contribution offered makes a real difference. Most importantly, all proceeds from this hike will directly support the convent and its mission of faith, prayer, and service.

Abaydat, Jbeil – Mount Lebanon
• 500 meters above sea level
• 37 km from Beirut

Date, Time & Transportation

⏰ Sunday, December 21, 2025

• Encounter at 7:30 AM – Mar Maroun Church Parking, Dora

• Alternatively, pickup is available at Martyrs’ Square, Beirut Downtown at 7:10 AM

Participation Fees

• $20 – includes transport, professional guides, coffee, warm-up session, and photos

• $18 – children (18 years and under)

• $15 – participants with private transportation

Hike Overview & Difficulty Levels

The trail winds through ancient caves and cliff-carved churches dating back 1,000–2,000 years, offering both spiritual and historical depth.

• First, Level 4 hikers will follow a 7 km Phoenician path leading to Mar Semaan Cave.

• Then, Level 5 hikers will continue toward the Mar Antonios cave-church, dramatically carved into a steep cliff.

• Afterward, both groups will reunite for a picnic beneath oak trees near St. Peter & Paul Church.

• Finally, the day will conclude with a peaceful visit to Mar Takla Church in Shamat village.

What to Bring

To ensure comfort and safety, please bring:

• Water

• Lunch or snacks

• Cap, sunscreen, and sunglasses

• Sturdy hiking shoes

• Light jacket
