Explore Qadisha Valley — A UNESCO World Heritage Site
Qadisha is one of Lebanon’s most breathtaking valleys. Carved by the Qadisha River, it’s known as the Holy Valley. This sacred area is filled with ancient monasteries, hermitages, and caves, some dating back to the 3rd millennium B.C.
Trail Highlights:
• Deir Saidet Annoubine – One of Lebanon’s oldest monasteries, founded by Emperor Theodosius the Great. It features beautiful 16th- and 17th-century murals.
• St. Marina Chapel – The burial site of 18 patriarchs. It honors Marina, a woman who disguised herself as a monk to enter the monastery.
• Deir Mar Licha – The birthplace of the Maronite Monks. This site includes a cliffside church and four chapels built into a natural cave.
• Scenic Views – The hike offers stunning landscapes and a peaceful atmosphere throughout.
Hike Details:
• Difficulty Levels:
– Level 2: Light and easy trail
– Level 4: Moderate hike with some challenge
• Route:
Start at Mar Licha, then pass by St. Marina and Deir Saidet Annoubine. There will be plenty of time for photos and rest.
• Lunch:
Enjoy a traditional meal at a local restaurant in the valley.
• Return Option:
After lunch, a shuttle bus is available to take you back to the starting point if preferred.
