Discover Mayfouk – Lebanon’s Honey Village!
Nestled in Mount Lebanon’s Byblos district, just 60 km from Beirut and sitting at 800–1100m altitude, Mayfouk is a scenic village rich in heritage. It once served as the second Maronite Patriarchal seat in Lebanon.

Highlights:
• Nicknamed the Village of Honey – home to a summer honey festival
• Famous for historic landmarks, panoramic views, and forest trails

Hike Details:

Starting Point: Deir Saidet Mayfouk (est. 1746)

• Visit Our Lady of Elige – houses Lebanon’s oldest Maronite icon

• Stop by St. Charbel Chapel – perched with a stunning mountain view

• Discover the abandoned Mar Saba Church, nestled between giant oak trees

Two Trail Options:
• Level 3 – Moderate

• Explore key sites, then take a bus to Our Lady of Elige Monastery (1120 AD)

• Key Site: Where Saint Charbel lived – admired for its architecture: arcades, colonnades, barrel vaults

• Level 6 – Challenging

• Continue on foot through Ram, reconnecting at the same monastery

Wrap-Up:

• Enjoy a traditional meal at a local restaurant

• Browse and purchase locally produced honey
