Mayfouk Hike With Vamos Todos
Explore Mayfouk, a scenic village in the Byblos district known for its history, natural beauty, and hiking trails. Located between 800 and 1100 meters above sea level, the village once served as the second Maronite Patriarchal seat in Lebanon. In addition, Mayfouk is famous as the “Village of Honey.”
The hike begins at Deir Saidet Mayfouk, founded in 1746. Along the way, participants will visit Our Lady of Elige, home to the oldest Maronite icon in Lebanon. They will also stop at St. Charbel Chapel, which overlooks the surrounding mountains, and Mar Saba Church, an abandoned church hidden between giant oak trees.
Afterward, participants will split into two hiking levels.
Level 3 – Easy:
Participants will continue by bus to the Monastery of Our Lady of Elige, which dates back to 1120 AD. Saint Charbel Makhlouf once lived there, and the monastery features remarkable architecture and historical significance.
Level 6 – Challenging:
Participants will continue hiking on foot to Ram before rejoining the group at the monastery.
At the end of the day, everyone will gather for a traditional lunch at a local restaurant. Participants will also have the chance to buy local honey.
