Annual Book Festival – Antelias

The Annual Book Festival in Antelias is a major cultural event in Lebanon dedicated to books and publishing. Organized by the Cultural Movement of Antelias, it brings together publishers, writers, universities, cultural centers, and international organizations. The event encourages dialogue and cultural exchange.

The festival takes place at Deir Mar Elias in Antelias. Its main attraction is the Book Fair, held in the main hall. Visitors can explore books and publications in several languages, including Arabic, French, English, and Armenian. The fair also features educational and cultural materials.

Many Lebanese publishing houses and bookstores take part in the fair, along with universities and cultural institutions. Every year, thousands of visitors attend and find books offered at reduced prices.

The festival also hosts book signings where authors present their latest publications. Special sections highlight new releases and independently published books.

Since 1985, the festival has honored leading cultural figures who have enriched Lebanon’s literary, scientific, and artistic life. Each year, the organizers celebrate several personalities during special ceremonies. Their biographies appear in the annual booklet A’alam Athakafa fi Loubnan (Cultural Figures in Lebanon). Each honoree also has a dedicated day in the festival program.

The festival sometimes includes roundtable discussions on cultural, educational, and social topics in Lebanon and the region.
