Signature, Sundus El Khalidy

Sundus Al Khalidy was born in Baghdad and graduated from the College of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad. She is a member of the Iraqi Artists Association and an established figure in contemporary Middle Eastern art. Based in Beirut, her practice reflects years of work across countries, cultures, and artistic themes.

Her solo exhibitions explore identity, memory, and the human experience. They include Aspiration of Woman (Baghdad, 1995), Shahrazat (Amman, 1999), and Muhakat Jidar (Amman, 2000). Later exhibitions include The Night Embracing the Event (Baghdad, 2001; Beirut, 2002), Remains Behind the Mist (Beirut, 2003), The Moment of Meditation (2005), and The Beauty of Nature at Museum-USEK, Beirut (2018).

Al Khalidy has participated in major international group exhibitions, including 4×4 Exhibitions (Milan, 1999), Selected Iraqi Arts (Bahrain, 1999), Different Dimensions (Germany, 2000), and Plastic Arts in Milan and Madrid (2002). Since 2019, Gallery Opera in Beirut has regularly featured her work in its rotating program. In 2020, she also took part in For Beirut with Love, organized by Opera Gallery after the Beirut explosion.

In April 2025, she returned with a solo exhibition at Rebirth Beirut. After the 2020 blast, Al Khalidy restored damaged artworks, reaffirming her commitment to art and cultural preservation in Beirut.
