Dust as Trace
The exhibition title, drawn from the artist’s work, holds a paradox. Dust can be measured, yet it escapes full control. It appears both at the beginning and end — as origin and as what remains. It also signals events that cannot be fully closed. In this space, dust becomes active, hanging in the air, unresolved.
The show brings together key works from recent years along with new pieces made for this site. As a result, it gently reshapes the layout of the Twin Galleries. At its center is a new floor piece. It copies the artist’s childhood home, at full scale. This work becomes a space of memory. It sets the pace for movement and change.
Meanwhile, embroidered walls and reopened doorways shift the space. At the same time, drawn calligrams turn minutes and seconds into visual forms. Loose paper fragments suggest the mess and flow of daily life. Together, they try to hold onto what is always slipping away.
Through crossings, gaps, and shifts, the works speak to the memory of the Sursock House. They also reflect the artist’s personal story of home and loss. As a result, each piece feels both exact and ghostly.
Overall, the exhibition explores what it means to start over again and again. The past doesn’t disappear. It stays in pieces, always moving. No full story is left. Instead, the exhibition invites us to think about broken time, repeating patterns, and how matter changes form.
