A refreshing mountain escape just an hour from Beirut

Located at 1,500–2,000 meters above sea level, the Tannourine Cedar Reserve is one of Lebanon’s natural treasures. Established as a protected area in 1999, it contains the country’s largest and densest cedar forest — with cedars covering 80% of its terrain.

Even more impressive, many trees grow along vertical cliffs, creating a dramatic landscape that’s truly unforgettable. Additionally, the reserve is home to rare alpine flowers that grow only at this elevation.

Choose Your Hiking Level

Whether you’re looking for a challenge or a leisurely walk, there’s a trail for you.

➤ Level 6+ (Hard – 15 km)

This trail is designed for experienced hikers. It starts at Arz Hadath El Jebbeh, climbs to Jurd Tannourine, and descends into the reserve. Expect steep ascents, a fast pace, and minimal breaks. After reaching the reserve, the group will meet up with Level 4 hikers for lunch.

➤ Level 4 (Moderate – 9 km)

Prefer something easier but still rewarding? This scenic trail runs through the heart of the reserve. You’ll have time to take in the views, snap photos, and enjoy the serenity of the cedar forest.

➤ Level 2 (Easy – 4 km)

Perfect for beginners or those wanting a slow-paced walk. This short trail winds gently through the reserve and offers a peaceful immersion in nature.

➡️ All groups reunite after the hike to enjoy a homemade lunch at a local restaurant before heading back to Beirut.
