Few Lebanese brands have shaped the country’s taste the way Kassatly Chtaura has, with classic syrups to sparkling drinks enjoyed around the region, the family-run company has been part of Lebanese kitchens, summer gatherings and celebrations for over 50 years.
A Homegrown Beginning
Kassatly Chtaura’s story began in 1974, when Akram Kassatly decided to bottle jallab for home use; a first in Lebanon. What started as a small workshop in the Bekaa Valley soon expanded into a beloved line of flower waters, syrups, jams and juices that many Lebanese families still reach for today. These products weren’t just pantry items; they carried memories of Sunday lunches, village summers and traditional flavors passed down through generations.
A New Chapter for a New Era
By the late 1990s, a new generation stepped in. Akram’s son Nayef, trained in food science and eager to modernize the family business, shaped the next chapter while staying anchored in tradition. The early 2000s saw the rise of colorful bottles and bold ideas. The launch of Freez, a sparkling fruit drink, quickly captured the Lebanese enthusiasm for fun, refreshing flavors. It later grew into Freez Mix, now known across the Middle East and beyond for its playful combinations and vibrant glass bottles.
From the Bekaa Valley to the World
The company didn’t stop at soft drinks. In 2004, it established Chateau Ka in the Bekaa Valley, planting vineyards and building a modern winery that soon attracted international attention. Wines produced there began appearing in markets from Europe to North America, helping shine another light on Lebanon’s rich winemaking tradition.
A decade later, Beirut Beer entered the scene, offering a locally brewed option in a market long dominated by international names. The growing world of non-alcoholic drinks also inspired the creation of Mezza, a malt beverage that tapped into changing tastes and lifestyles.
Carrying Lebanese Identity Abroad
As Lebanese products gained popularity abroad, Kassatly Chtaura expanded its reach. A new production facility in Limassol, Cyprus, became operational in 2024, helping the company serve regional markets while keeping its Lebanese character at the heart of everything it makes.
A Brand Built on Memory and Innovation
Today, Kassatly Chtaura remains rooted in the flavors Lebanese people know best — from rose water drizzled over desserts to the sparkling drinks enjoyed at family barbecues. Each new product reflects the company’s belief that tradition and innovation can grow side by side.
Through five decades of change, one thing has stayed constant: Kassatly Chtaura continues to tell Lebanon’s story, one bottle at a time.
