WADA Association: Promoting Sustainable Tourism

The Women’s Association of Deir El Ahmar (WADA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that focuses on sustainable rural development and community dialogue. While their mission extends beyond tourism, WADA plays a vital role in promoting the growth of the tourism sector in Deir El Ahmar.

Established in 1997, WADA took the initiative to implement a center aimed at serving the local community and fostering the development of rural tourism. The center not only produces and promotes local foods and products but also serves as a hub for visitors to experience the authentic taste of Deir El Ahmar.

WADA actively engages with the youth by providing them with training to become knowledgeable tour guides, enabling them to accompany visitors as they explore the village’s natural, historical, and religious sites. This enriching experience ensures that visitors gain a deep understanding of the local culture and heritage, making their journey through Deir El Ahmar truly memorable.

As part of their eco-tourism spirit, WADA has worked closely with a network of 30 eco-friendly guesthouses in Deir el Ahmar. Through initiatives such as outfitting these guesthouses with solar panels and encouraging recycling practices, WADA promotes sustainability and fosters a responsible tourism environment.
