Recognizing the importance of corporate social responsibility and the need for sustainability, Pierre Fabre, a French pharmaceutical and dermo-cosmetic group, has spread a positive message by unveiling a greener Beirut.

An event was held on February 6, 2024, under the patronage of the Dr. Nasser Yassine, the Lebanese environment minister, and Nabil Kahale, the major of Sin El Fil, to celebrate the efforts of Pierre Fabre Moyen-Orient’s team to transform the Sin El Fil area into a flourishing green space. Indeed, the project involved numerous aspects: 500 pine trees were planted, solar panels were installed and the sidewalks were repainted.

Naim Hanna, managing director of Pierre Fabre Moyen-Orient, said: “Pierre Fabre group is fully committed to respecting the environment, putting nature at the heart of what we do, of our products development and at the core of our operations. This green mission shows our strong engagement towards a greener and more sustainable future. We started in Lebanon as it’s the hub of our operations and we will eventually expand this initiative across the region.

Dr. Yassine also spoke about the relevance of such projects and the goals of the ministry in 2024. “We are launching new projects with our partners, particularly the World Bank. We are going to close some of the open dumps in areas across the country to establish integrated solid waste management. In addition, we are launching a forest fire emergency fund with the World Bank. We sincerely hope that 2024 is going to be a foundational year for a cleaner environment and a more sustainable Lebanon.”

Furthermore, a sign was erected at Sin El Fil roundabout, detailing the specifics of Pierre Fabre’s pioneering initiative in Beirut and to serve as a reminder about the possibility of making positive things happen in Lebanon.
