 DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:

======================

Balaa Pit or Baatara gorge waterfall is very famous; it is one of the 10 most beautiful waterfalls in the world. It is a triple natural bridge rising one above the other - the middle one is the most spectacular, it has an estimated span of 32 meters.

The name Douma is of Greek origin meaning "house", "palace" or "castle". Douma is also derived from the Latin word "Doman" used to designate a Queen (Julia Domna) famous for her beauty and intelligence. Douma's pronunciation derives as well from the Hebrew language word of "doumah" meaning calm and rest. Almost all its houses are made of red brick which makes Douma a famous place.

We will start the hike in Balaa, and then we will go up to the top: it's between Jabal Douma and Jabal Tartej. The view from up there is breathtaking, not to be missed!

Afterward, we will go ahead to Douma, crossing ‘AL Ouadi; the trail passes through “Sikket Al-Sham”, the ancient road that was used to join the coast to the Bekaa Valley and then to Damascus where we will visit different Roman wells. Then we will continue to Douma on a pedestrian trail and breathtaking views to be remembered forever.

After finishing the trail, we will gather near a bonfire near Douma Hotel and we will have the opportunity to taste and eat Qa3qe, boil tea, and roasted potatoes cooked by local villagers.

This sunset hike is not to be missed. It will imprint unforgettable memories of a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous.

Level 4: (8.5 KM - 3.0 Hours approx.) The track is uphill at the beginning and requires some physical ability, then easy downhill.

Protect yourself and others around you by knowing the facts and taking appropriate precautions:

Distancing from each other is a must.

Cover your nose and mouth with your face masks. To keep it on, while we are on the bus.

Clean your hands often by using hand gel or other.

Don’t let any adventure go by untried. Live your life to the fullest!
