Hiking & Swimming at El Mokhtara with DALE CORAZON-LEBANON EXPLORERSHike and swim in Mokhtara Valley in Chouf Region. The greenery of this area is highly remarkable. Villages are ornamented with brick roof houses and castles, old traditional souks, old mills, and presses. The most famous sites of Chouf are Beit El Dine Castle, Moussa Castle, Jumblat Castle. HIKE LOCATION : El Mokhtara / Mount Lebanon /Chouf ============= 750 meters above sea level. 54 km from Beirut. WHEN : Saturday, July 03, 2021 ===== ENCOUNTER PLACE : Mar Abda Church parking facing the New bridge, Jal El =============== Dib, @ 7:30AM. FEES: ==== 55,000 LL/person including transport (open windows), professional guides, 5 minutes warming up, stretching, and pictures. Children 18 years old and younger will have a discount of 20%. (45,000 LL per person) Optional transportation by your own vehicles 35,000 LL/person There is a 7.000 LL Extra entrance fee to the reserve. DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT: ======================== Mokhtara – the seat of the Jumblat Family, the leader of the Druze Community in Lebanon, will definitely mark your minds and souls with its colorful, fresh, and beautiful nature all day long. You will walk a splendid trail beside the river; our sky will be even green. YOu will cross many bridges; the most famous one is The Birket El Arous Bridge. It was built at the end of the Mamluk era, as indicates the Arabic inscription engraved on one of its stones “Month of Safar, year 913 Hijri, 1507 AD”. It is a part of a complex network of bridges and trails built in the valley of Barouk by the Mamluks and later the Ottomans. HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous LEVEL 4 (6 km) will walk a loop trail in Mokhtara and will start from Our Lady Church. You will experience the fascinating Lebanese wild nature with its colorful trees, and herbs, chirping birds, fresh breeze, and rushing water. The scenery is really beyond description. You will have enough time for meditation, photo shooting, and fun. Then will continue to a water mill near a waterfall and natural pond (Birket El Arous) for lunch, relax under the shade of the trees and enjoy the sound of water. You may benefit from a swim in the clean transparent water as well, and then you will continue from the village between the old houses with red brick roofs and head towards the piazza until you reach Jumblat Castle. |
