Tnayn Tnayn is the first Arabic & proudly Lebanese adaptation of the play “Duets” by famous broadway writer Peter Quilter. "Duets" has been presented under various titles, including "Face to Face," "Lonely Hearts,"
"Mr & Mrs," and "Heart to Heart."
The show had its world premiere in Sydney, Australia, in 2009. It has since had successful productions in 28 countries, including a recent tour of France that visited 50 towns and was broadcast live on television. In 2022, there was a national tour of Brazil and new productions in Prague, Finland, Belgium, and Budapest.
Tnayn Tnayn was adapted to Lebanese Arabic by Patrick Chemali who obtained the rights from Peter Quilter and is also producing the play.
The play has been created to be performed by a cast of only two actors – one male & one female, each taking on 2 roles.
“Tnayn Tnayn” consists of 2 short plays sharing similar themes of love and relationships.
1. The first (Safra min el 3omor) tells the story of an estranged couple about to divorce but still going on a vacation they had already paid for in advance.
2. The second (Ewiiha) explores the relationship between siblings on the day of the sister’s third wedding as she becomes hesitant and unsure of her decision.
The relationships between man and woman explored once as couples and then as siblings through two distinct stories and characters played by each of the actors in a heartwarming dramedy.
