DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:

Dear Corazon,

Prepare yourself for an amazing and wonderful trail at Yammouneh village Bekaa-district.

Yammouneh Nature Reserve, it’s the site of an ancient sacred lake and Roman temple, and rich in water, marvelous lake and the great waterfall at this time of year.

As for the name Yammouneh, it might come from the Semitic word ‘Yam’ (sea in Akkadian) and so mean “Little Sea”.

Countless streams run down from abundant springs on the heights, one of them known as “Nabaa al-Arba’een”, the Spring of the Forty (!). They then pour into a lake lying at an altitude of 1375m with no other exit than a large sluice at the end of the valley so enclosed, where one sees another small lake with clear limpid waters lying just 3km south of the other and known as “Zeineiyyeh”.

The Yammouneh valley represents a geologic fracture between the two continents of Asia and Africa along the eastern Mediterranean. The fresh water at this elevation and location constitutes a special ecosystem for animals (fish, reptiles, birds), and plants (junipers, abies, cupressus and cedars).

HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous

There will be two levels:

LEVEL 4 (approx. 2,30Hr); will start from the end of Yammouneh, walking along the cliff overlooking the entire plain of Yammouneh. You will see a beautifully built tree-house. In our trail you can take a lot of unforgettable pictures. Then they will head down to the water source; a wonderful waterfall indeed.

LEVEL 5 (approx. 3,30Hr); consists of ascending trails at the beginning that requires good physical competencies and walking stick. You will start with the other group and head up to the cliff. From there, you’ll head straight than down to the village, meet with level 4 for lunch at the garden. You will have minimal time for rest and photo sessions.

Our lunch will be in the village in a beautiful garden facing the waterfall.

On our return to Beirut, our visit will be in Deir el Ahmar to “Saydet Bechwat”.

Diversified...? Yes! You will encounter a lot of things in this hike!

Protect yourself and others around you by knowing the facts and taking appropriate precautions:

Distancing from each other is a must.

Cover your nose and mouth with your face masks.

Clean your hands often by using hand gel or other.

WHAT TO TAKE:

Healthy snacks that will boost your energy include dried fruits, lunch, water, MEDICAL FACE MASKS, HAND GEL, a cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Wear comfortable walking shoes (A professional brand is recommended) and don't forget to get a light jacket. DC members get a 20% discount on sports equipment in Sports 4 Ever branches.

==There will be a breakfast stop along the way==
