What is Darb el Salib Tartij?

Darb el-Salib Tartij, or the Way of the Cross, is a pilgrimage route in Tartij, Lebanon, renowned for its picturesque setting and profound spiritual significance. Comprising fifteen stations that depict the final moments of Jesus Christ’s life, this sacred path offers believers and seekers a space for introspection, prayer, and connection with the timeless message of love and redemption.

When can you go?

Open year round, Darb el-Salib Tartij welcomes visitors from across the globe, offering them the opportunity to embark on a journey of faith and reflection at any time of the year. Whether seeking solace in the tranquility of nature or spiritual renewal amidst the sacred stations, pilgrims are invited to tread its hallowed ground and immerse themselves in the profound story of Christ’s sacrifice.

How did the project begin?

We were inspired by our travels to renowned religious sites worldwide, including Lourdes and Medjugorje, and sought to create a sanctuary in Lebanon that mirrored the transformative experiences they encountered abroad. With a desire to fulfill the longing of Lebanese visitors for such a place, we embarked on the journey to establish Darb el-Salib Tartij, culminating in its opening on 30 July 2021, with the blessing of Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al Raii.

What is the purpose of Darb el-Salib Tartij?

At its core, Darb el-Salib Tartij serves as a sanctuary for individuals of all backgrounds to find peace, connect with their faith, and contemplate the profound message of Jesus’ sacrifice. Since its addition to the religious tourism map in August 2023, the site has welcomed pilgrims from diverse cultures and faiths, fostering a sense of unity and spiritual enrichment amidst its serene surroundings.
