Lebanese Singer Tania Kassis on Spreading Unity Through Song

by LBTAdmin

Internationally renowned Lebanese singer Tania Kassis, known for her hit the “Islamo-Christian AVE” — which fused Ave Maria with the muezzin’s Allah Akhbar — has toured the world. The ultimate patriot, she shares her musical journey and love of Lebanon.

What have been your most recent projects, and what are your plans for the rest of the year?

I’m thrilled with the success of my latest song, “Khallini Maak,” which I released three months ago and which was nominated for a Murex d’Or Award. This year, I’ve also had the privilege of performing at some incredible events and festivals, where I blended my original songs with timeless classics. For the rest of the year, I’m planning more concerts across the Arab world and Europe, as well as releasing a new song next month and working on some exciting collaborations that I can’t wait to share.

If someone were visiting Lebanon for 24 hours where would you take them?

I would start by taking them to visit Jeita Grotto — a true treasure of Lebanon that’s not to be missed. Then, we’d head to Harissa to enjoy the breathtaking view over the bay of Jounieh and learn about Our Lady of Lebanon, who is revered by both Christians and Muslims. In the afternoon, I’d take them to explore the remarkable archaeological site of Byblos, followed by a pleasant stroll through the Old Souks. To end the day, we’d enjoy a delicious Lebanese fish dinner at one of the charming restaurants in Byblos harbor.

What does Lebanon mean to you?

Lebanon is my home, my identity and my endless source of inspiration. No matter where I travel or perform, Lebanon remains at the heart of who I am. Its beauty, resilience and spirit are always with me.

How does Lebanon inspire your music and performances?

Lebanon is a land of contrasts and rich diversity that has profoundly shaped my music. Growing up surrounded by various cultures, traditions and sounds, I naturally infused these influences into my artistic style. My performances often blend East and West, reflecting Lebanon’s unique role as a bridge between cultures.

You’ve performed around the world. What’s one thing about Lebanon that you always share with your international audience?

I always tell them that Lebanon is unlike any other place — it’s an experience. Its blend of history, nature, and modern life, all within such a small country, makes it truly unique. Despite its challenges, Lebanon has given the world so much beauty through its art, culture, food, fashion and music.

What cultural experience in Lebanon should every traveler experience at least once?

It’s difficult for me to capture Lebanon in just one cultural experience because the true beauty of our country lies in its diversity. For some, it’s attending a concert in Baalbeck or Byblos, where history and music merge in a magical way. For others, it’s sharing a big Lebanese Sunday lunch filled with warmth, food and laughter. There’s also the peacefulness of hiking through the Cedars, the deep spirituality found in the ancient monasteries of the Qadisha Valley or the vibrant nightlife that reflects Lebanon’s modern soul. Lebanon is a land of contrasts, and I believe every traveler should experience a bit of each — together, they reveal the true spirit of who we are.

What’s your go-to spot when you need to disconnect and recharge in Lebanon?

For me, it’s the sea. Sitting by the Mediterranean and watching the sunset is my ultimate way to recharge. The sea brings me peace, clarity, and inspiration — it’s where I truly reconnect with myself.
