Rencontre à l’ESA: Georgia Makhlouf
To end the season in style, Bemo Virtual Aart Club (Bvac) in collaboration with the Cultural Agenda, invites you on Friday June 24 at 6 p.m. to the ESA campus, Clemenceau, for a meeting in the Henry and Nadège Obegi gardens recently inaugurated. For this last literary encounter of the season, Georgia Makhlouf will go to the other side of the mirror!
It is she who will answer Karl Akiki's questions about his career as a writer and his latest works, in particular Les Absents (Rivages/L'Orient des livres, 2014), Port-au-Prince aller-retour (L' Orient des livres/La Cheminante, 2019) and Le Taste du Liban (Mercure de France, 2021).
This meeting with Georgia Makhlouf will allow us to return with the author to themes dear to her pen: emigration, memory, Lebanon, the story of filiation... From the Absents and Port-au-Prince round trip, it will be a question of hyphens, those between the writer and her family, her homeland, her motherhood, her countries, her past but also those with other French-speaking Lebanese authors in order to reflect on what literature can still in a bloodless and bruised country. The intimate and public discussion will be led by Karl Akiki, director of the French literature department at USJ.
